Six brave men, the families they left behind, and a fire department that will never forget.
On December 3, 1999, six firefighters from Denis Leary’s hometown of Worcester were killed in the Worcester Cold Storage Warehouse fire. Among the dead were Leary’s cousin and his close childhood friend. In response, the actor founded the Leary Firefighters Foundation.
Since its creation in the year 2000, the foundation has raised more than $13 million for first responders in Worcester, Boston, New Orleans, New York areas and support to Detroit and the Tri-State Area following Hurricane Sandy. This money is used for equipment, training materials, new vehicles, and new facilities.
December 3, 2019 marked the 20th Anniversary of the fire and the tragic loss of those who have come to be known as the “Worcester Six”. Many of the six fallen men now have family members in Worcester firehouses working every day in their honor, fulfilling their legacy.
This film was created in honor of the six men we lost on that fateful night.
